This beautiful highland cow is a reminder of the wonderful family holiday we took recently in the North West of Scotland.
Often when my family and I go away I will be sketching on location, it is a lovely way to relax and although I did a little this time we also had our bikes and plenty of beach walking so time was precious.
For me the second best option is to take photographs to work on once I return home ad for this picture I did just that. The mountains behind are inspired by those around Gruinard Bay in wester Ross and the highland Cow we met on a cycle to Mellon Udrigle Beach.
I often make montages of my photos before drawing them, it is a good way to try out compositions and also for clients commissioning me to get an idea of how a piece will look.
These sketches are available as both prints and merchandise and also in some cases as original artwork. If you can’t find a particular item in my shop then you can contact me at email@example.com
